7:30 PM EST. The “revenge angle” is one of the oldest and most tired in this game, but the media and the market love it because it’s low-hanging fruit. In this case, it’s the Timberwolves who are apparently out for “revenge” here after being bounced from the playoffs by the lesser-seeded Mavericks, 4-1, in the Western Conference Finals. The narrative is that Minnesota has a sour taste in their mouths after the Mavs celebrated on the Target Center floor on their way to the NBA Finals, while the T-Wolves slunk off the court after choking away their best chance at a championship since the days of Kevin Garnett—or maybe ever. There is no measure of “revenge” the T-Wolves could get tonight that will make up for blowing that series.

The Mavericks played last night in Utah, but we aren’t worried about that, as there should be no lack of motivation considering the hype this game is getting in the market. Also working against the Mavs in the media is the fact that they’ve failed to cover in two straight games. However, rather than fade Dallas for failing to cover, now would be the time to back them because they are undervalued in this spot. Dallas is very capable of winning this game outright, but we’re more than happy to put these inflated points in our back pockets and hope we don’t need them.
