Golden State -10½ over Houston

10:10 PM EST. We backed the Warriors last night in Los Angeles, where they were beaten by the Lakers, 124-111. It was the second double-digit loss the Steph Curry-less Dubs were dealt in L.A., after the Clippers beat Golden State 134-124 right before the All-Star break. Over their last five games, the Warriors are just 1-4, and they faced the ultimate disrespect last weekend when Charles Barkley called them out for being “finished,” right to the face of Draymond Green. It’s very unlikely the chip on the Warriors' shoulder didn’t get bigger last night with that waffling by the Lakers, which only fuels the fire, as this team has more than enough locker room fodder to go around at the moment.

The Rockets are mere pawns in this play, but they ought to serve us well here, as they can lose by double-digits on any given night. Prior to the break, Houston dropped games by 37 to the Thunder, 19 to the 76ers, 20 to the Kings, 32 to the Thunder (again), and 18 to the Cavaliers.

While spotting points in this range isn’t often in our wheelhouse, there are exceptions when the situation dictates. That is the case here, as we have the Warriors coming off a loss, while the Rockets are coming in cold off the bench in a really tough building to play in. The Dubs’ stock might be down, but they are more than capable of covering a deflated price against one of the dregs of the league.
