Golden State +6 over L.A. Lakers

10:00 PM EST. The Lakers emerge from the NBA’s All-Star weekend as healthy as they’ve been all season, as both LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both expected back in the lineup tonight. This line has risen since that news was confirmed. All the market sees here is that the Warriors are down and out and the Lakers are at full force. That may be true to some degree, but there is also a premium to be paid to get behind the Lakers.

The biggest story out of the break had nothing to do with anything that happened on the court, as the criticism TNT analyst Charles Barkley lobbed at Draymond Green as the Warriors big man sat on the panel is the only thing that anybody is talking about. The best quote to summarize that exchange was this quote from Chuck, “Y'all are cooked now… I’m telling you, y’all are done.” That was in relation to the Dubs’ chances to win the NBA title this season. Nobody likes to be called out and disrespected to their face like that and Dray was no exception as he took up for his team.

With that clip of Barkley and Green going viral, the injury to Steph Curry, and the Warriors' woeful road record this season, Golden State’s stock is way down. However, that disrespectful exchange likely fired up a Warriors locker room that was just looking for a spark. That doesn’t mean they’ll be the hotter shooting team tonight or get the calls versus the G.O.A.T., but those elements are not in our control. What we see here is a situation where there is a tremendous amount of value on a pretty damn good team even without Curry. Now that underrated and undervalued team has had a fire lit under its ass. Let’s take the points and hope that we don’t need them.
