Memphis -1 over Sacramento

8:05 PM EST. The two big elephants in the room are the Grizzlies' two top scorers, Ja Morant and Desmond Bane lighting up the injury report tonight, as both are doubtful. Bane with a toe, and Morant with an ankle. The market can’t fathom how the Grizz could compete without two of their best. It's as if Memphis doesn’t have anybody else with a pair of sneakers that can make a jump shot or run a pick and roll that might be uber-motivated to show what they’ve got. Spoiler. It does. Keep an eye on Kennedy Chandler, who will be tasked with replacing Morant tonight. He’s just one of a bench full of Grizz players that are ready to be the “next man up.”

Not only are the injury chasers out in full force, but we also have a classic “buy low, sell high” situation, as the Kings are on a tear right now. Sacramento has seen its stock rise after a 6-1 run of wins and covers in their last seven games. The Kings are now 11-4 against the spread this season, while Memphis is just 6-11.

We know the market loves a winner. All we’ve read today is that the red hot Kings are going to take the Grizz out behind the bard and put them out of their misery with their high tempo attack. They may, but anyone that backs the Kings to find out is paying a big premium to do so. Those backers have missed the boat. The word is out on the Kings and any value they may have had has long set sail. They are also backing a team that despite the positive results, looks a little shaky when looking at the underlying numbers. Sacramento is just 28th in defensive efficiency, despite its top ranked offense. The Kings are totally dependent on having to be the hot shooting team to win their games. So far, it’s worked out, but the clock is ticking. Sacramento’s success is not sustainable.
