Washington +4 over Utah

6:10 PM EST. The Wizards are not the focus here, but their less than stellar standing in the market and a middling .500 record offer up a fine “b-side” in this equation. Despite the modest success on paper, the Wizards have been picking up steam. Washington has quietly put up two straight wins as an underdog. However, the Wiz are still flying under the radar. They are also overshadowed by an invader that is becoming a market darling. There is no hotter team in the West to start the season, as the Jazz are 10-3 and they are getting a ton of buzz from the talking heads. Utah got the love from Scott Van Pelt’s popular SportsCenter shift this week. SVP featured the Jazz on Wednesday night after they knocked off the Hawks in Atlanta as a 4½-point pooch. That was the new look Jazz’s seventh straight trip to the pay window by the way. The feat is impressive, but it’s not sustainable. For some perspective of just how overvalued Utah is at the moment, this is the first road game it has been favored in since a trip to Houston back on October 24th. The Jazz would lose that game outright, 114-108. We can’t predict if the same result awaits here, but we trust that this price is inflated and we’re going to attack it.
