Chicago +109 over Brooklyn

7:33 PM EST. The NBA on TNT is must see TV. The studio crew are household names and friends of the family. Everybody loves Shaq, Chuck, Kenny and Ernie. It’s with that in mind that we’ll start with this—nationally televised games get a lot of eyes and therefore a ton of action. Enter the Bulls and Nets.

Chicago failed to cover as a 2½-point pooch in a 114-109 loss in Philadelphia on Saturday night. That was the second game in a row the Bulls failed to cover a number, as they dropped a 129-124 decision at home to San Antonio last Friday. If the poor results were not enough, the Injury chasers have much to chew on here, as Zach LaVine, Ayo Dosunmu, and Coby White are all questionable for tonight. Moreover, The Bulls are still without starting point guard Lonzo Ball.

The Nets are 2-5. They just got Steve Nash run out of town, as he was sacked this afternoon. There was much that led to Nash's firing (don't forget his hiring was suspect at best), but a big reason was the Nets can't play defense, as they rank just 28th league win in PPG. Moreover, they can’t find anyone to make a bucket that isn’t Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving. Don't think that those two big egos didn't have some influence on Nash's future either. When you make as much money combined as Durant and Irving, you get to call most of the shots.

We are seven games into the year and Durant and Irving are in mid-season form (on and off the court). That’s the perception in the market, anyway. Sure, they’re combining for 62.7 points per game, but this is a team that runs two men deep. The Nets’ projected lineup is—Irving, Harris, Claxton, O’Neale, Durant. It might as well read Irving, Sherwood, Finnie, Randle the Handle, Durant. What’s the difference? We trust the Bulls would beat us more often than they would not and we trust we can say the same for the Nets in their current form. The Nets are mess and we haven't even touched on the negativity surrounding Irving.
