Oakland over Seattle
3:37 PM EST. Joey Estes is lined up for his 20th start of the year after he pitched a solid game last Saturday vs. the Rangers, where he struck out seven and walked just one over 6 IP. It was Estes’ seventh quality start of the year, and he’s allowed two runs or less in eight of his last nine starts, posting a 2.88 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 39/9 K/BB over 50 IP across that span. Today, he'll face a Mariners offense that has notched an ugly .619 OPS over its last 20 games.
Bryan Woo (RHP - SEA) is coming off a start on Saturday against the Angels in which he allowed four runs on five hits over 6.1 IP, striking out just three. Woo gave up a season-high three long balls in that start, and it was his lowest strikeout total since July 27. On the season, Woo has a nice-looking 2.30 ERA, but his xERA is upwards of 4.00 (3.90), and he has a low strikeout rate of 6.8 K/9, with below-average groundball and swing-and-miss rates. Woo is a weak favorite, and he’s spotting an inflated price on the road. The A’s hold all the value here.
