7:10 PM EST. The Red Sox are reeling after losing four straight games, including the first two games of this series. Today they’ll send out Tanner Houck (RHP - BOS) to stop the bleeding, and while he looks pretty good on paper with a 3.12 surface ERA, his xERA is 4.15. Houck has struggled over his last eight starts (47.2 IP), posting a 4.94 xERA with just 31 Ks to 20 BBs while going 0-3 in that time.

Meanwhile, the Mets are rolling, winning six straight and eight of their last 10, and they’ll turn to the recently returning Tylor Megill (RHP - NYM) to keep the good times rolling after he struck out six over 5.1 IP in a win over the White Sox last Friday. Wins over the White Sox aren’t worth much, so we aren’t going to dwell on that start, but rather we’ll talk about what Megill worked on when he was down in the minors. While in Triple-A, Megill was working on his two-seam fastball to generate more weak contact and groundballs to help keep his pitch counts low. Megill did just that against Chicago, as he allowed just four hard-hit balls and showed his deep arsenal by throwing eight total pitches.
