2:10 PM EST. Andre Pallante (RHP - STL) has been a nice surprise for the Cardinals this season, as he owns a 3.50 ERA backed by a 3.48 xERA, so what you see is pretty much what you get with him. That’s not a bad thing. Pallante has pitched well in the second half, posting a 3.31 ERA (3.47 xERA), a 1.14 WHIP, and an elite 64% ground ball rate in nine starts (54.1 IP). In his last start, Pallante gave up two runs over 5.2 IP while striking out three in a no-decision against the Padres. He has now not allowed more than two runs in his last four starts (25.1 IP), and in those turns, he’s allowed just six earned runs total. Finally, left-handed batters are being limited to a .222 average and a .579 OPS against him. The Brewers plan to feature four lefties today, including Brice Turang in the leadoff spot, as well as Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell in the middle of the order.

Freddy Peralta has had a roller-coaster year, but he’s coming off a nice start last Wednesday. However, that game was against the wet noodle-hitting Giants, who struggle to score at the best of times. Peralta has won two of his last three turns, but he’s also posted a 100% strand rate in those games, so it could be argued he’s been more lucky than good. Peralta hasn't dominated as much in August, with a 23/11 K/BB over 28 innings this month.
