Osvaldo Bido (RHP - OAK) will be taking on the Mariners for the first time in his career, but there may be little to fear, as Seattle brings the second-lowest batting average against RHP in the majors into the opening game of this series. Bido has pitched well at home this season, posting a 3.03 ERA and a tidy 1.16 WHIP. Three of his last four starts also resulted in a dominant pure-quality start, and he’s posted a 1.55 ERA and a gorgeous 0.79 WHIP over his last five turns (29 IP), with 28 Ks. In his last start against the Reds on Wednesday, Bido allowed two runs on three hits over 6 IP, striking out five, and he didn’t walk a batter.

Logan Gilbert (RHP - SEA) is a tremendous young pitcher, but the problem is he is not in control of the weak Mariners lineup that he must rely on to score runs and help him get wins. That’s why he’s just 7-10 this season. We’re not going to slag Gilbert’s skill set or try and kick dirt on him because he is very good, but he’s just one man, and the Mariners as a whole are just not reliable enough to be spotting an inflated price on the road.
