2:35 PM EST. It’s a bullpen day for Texas with Walter Pennington (LHP - TEX) getting the start today. The Rangers have used Pennington exclusively out of the bullpen this season; however, he does have four minor-league starts over the last three seasons, although he is not likely to take on a starter's load today, as he’s only pitched more than one inning twice in his seven appearances with Texas this year. The last time he threw was on August 23, when he pitched three innings versus Cleveland, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks.

The A’s will send Mitch Spence (RHP - OAK) out for his 19th start of the season after he did not factor into the decision in his last turn on Tuesday against the Reds. The A’s would win that game, with Spence throwing 5.1 IP of one-run ball, striking out three, and limiting the Reds to just one extra-base hit. On the year, Spence has a 4.54 ERA, but his xERA is 3.84, and he has 100 Ks to 38 BBs in 121 IP.
