Jon Gray (RHP - TEX) appears to be fading here in the second half, as he’s coming off a rough start in which he allowed seven runs, six of which were earned, on six hits over just 2.1 IP, where he walked two and struck out just one. Gray threw just 53 pitches, with 36 of those going for strikes, and he does not appear to be fully healed from that groin injury that caused him to miss a month of action. Gray is likely going to be on a pitch count again today, but even if he isn’t, it’s not like his season-long numbers are great either, as he sports a 4.62 xERA with a 1.32 WHIP and 81 Ks to 26 BBs in 98 IP.

JP Sears (RHP - OAK) is coming off a rough outing, but he’s an underdog today who is taking back an inflated price against a stiff like Gray, so we are not going to be shy about backing the A’s again in such a role. We were on Oakland yesterday, but unfortunately ripped up that ticket after the A’s, who had scored three in the top of the ninth to take a 9-7 lead, gave up three runs in the bottom of the ninth to lose that game. Now, if you bet that game at Bet 365, you would have received an early payout when the A’s went up five runs.
