Minnesota -1½ over St. Louis

Erik Fedde (RHP - STL) has not settled in his new digs in St. Louis, as he’s gone 1-3 in his first four starts, posting an ERA near 5.00 (4.98) and a 1.38 WHIP to go with a 14/8 K/BB ratio in 21.2 IP. Last Tuesday vs. the Brewers, Fedde took the loss after a 5.2-inning effort in which he gave up six hits and four walks and was lucky only to give up two runs. Perhaps most concerning was that Fedde threw only 53 of his 95 pitches for strikes.

Zebby Matthews (RHP - MIN) took the loss in his second MLB start last Monday, and while we ripped up our ticket on him that day, we are not going to stop backing this kid while his stock is still low/he’s under the radar. Matthews did give up two walks in his 5 IP vs. the Padres, but those free passes have been the exception and not the rule as he’s worked his way up the ranks, where he posted a 0.6 BB/9 over 97 frames in the minors this season and produced an eye-popping 114/7 K/BB in those MILB IP. In his MLB debut, Matthews showed he could miss bats, striking out five in 5 IP vs. the Royals (Aug 13) and walking no one while picking up the win. Matthews' command has been consistently outstanding throughout his time as a pro, and we’re “sticking with” him here today.
