It’s Canning’s turn on the schedule, and he may also start this game as he has in his other 25 appearances this season. Either way, the 28-year-old figures to get the bulk of the innings as long as things are going well. While it’s not been his best season, Canning is capable of a quality start (he has five).

The plan for the Blue Jays is also not clear at the time of this posting, but it looks as though Jake Bloss (RHP - TOR), who was acquired from the Astros at the trade deadline as part of the Yusei Kikuchi deal, could get his first start with his new team. In two starts at Triple-A Buffalo, Bloss pitched 6.2 IP, giving up four hits and two walks with 5 Ks. If he brings that to the big club tonight, so be it, but in his three prior starts with the Astros, he gave up nine runs in 11.2 IP. Regardless, Bloss cannot be spotting inflated prices like this.
