Detroit over Chicago

8:05 PM EST. The Tigers have yet to name a starter for this series opener at Wrigley, but they figure to go with a bullpen day. Even if they don’t, it matters not, as we are here to fade the Cubs and their starter, Javier Assad (RHP - CHC).

Assad brings a decent-looking surface ERA of 3.19, but his xERA is up at 4.72, and he’s been aided by a higher-than-average strand rate while posting a very weak swing and miss rate of 6.4% with a dismal first-pitch strike rate of 57.6%. Assad is walking hitters in droves this season with a 4.11 BB/9 walk rate, which when paired with an average groundball rate and his weak K numbers, creates a potential powder keg that could blow up at any time. In his last start, last Tuesday against the Guardians, Assad generated just two whiffs on 31 swings (in 4.2 IP) for a 6% whiff rate and a lame called and swinging strike (CSW%) of 22%. He struck out two and walked two. At home at Wrigley, Assad has walked 30 batters in 53 IP, and he’s not pitched into the fifth inning in seven of his last nine starts.

Pinnacle takes some of the lowest fees on all users’ bets, meaning it’s able to offer some of the best value odds on the market. Compared to other major, well-known sportsbooks, Pinnacle offers superior average odds pricing. Pinnacle’s low betting margins and high betting limits is the best in the biz and will save you thousands of dollars over your betting life.

For instance, a baseball game at most sportsbooks has 20 to 25 cent margins

Arizona     -150

Detroit      +125

That’s a 25 cent margin but at Pinnacle, it’ll be an 9 cent margin (see example)

Arizona       -145

Detroit    +134

If you bet on sports daily, Pinnacle is a must have because of their low margins.
