Chicago over San Francisco
9:45 PM EST. Jonathan Cannon (RHP - CWS) is coming off a decent start in which he struck out four over 4.2 IP in a loss to the Yankees. A disappointing result to be sure, but the damage done in that game was limited to the bat of Juan Soto, who hit 3 HRs (two off Cannon). While not ideal, it was just the first time since June 29 that Cannon gave up multiple dingers. The 3 ER he gave up were also the most he’s given up since a July 20th start versus the Royals.
That brings us to Kyle Harrison (LHP - SF), who was pegged for a breakout season, but that has not come to fruition. In his last turn, Harrison allowed three runs on six hits versus the Braves, where he walked two and struck out six over 5 IP. Since returning from the IL on July 6 (7 GS), Harrison has only pitched into the sixth once, and he’s given up six home runs over his last three games. Call this a “throwaway” bet if you like, but Harrison and the Giants are spotting an inflated price, and we’re not passing up the value we are being presented with.
