Oakland over N.Y. Mets
1:10 PM EST. José Quintana (LHP - OAK) is fade material just about every time out, today included, after he gave up five runs on four hits and two walks over 6.2 IP last Friday, picking up the loss versus Seattle. That was the third time in five turns that Quintana took the loss and the second time in that run that he gave up at least five runs. The dude has a brutal 102/42 K/BB ratio, and he brings a bloated 4.92 xERA into his 24th start of the season.
Mitch Spence (RHP - OAK) is not the target of this wager, but the rookie has been pretty damn good for the A’s, posting a 3.76 xERA over 106 innings this season. Spence is not an overpowering figure, but he has a solid low-90s sinker that pairs well with his cutter and slider to pick up outs. Spence has a very solid groundball rate of 48.2%, and his surface stats would stand out more if not for his unlucky Batting Average of Balls in Play (BABIP) of .300. Since the All-Star break, Spence has given up two runs or fewer and pitched into the sixth inning in each of his four starts.
