The Rockies may have struck gold with Tanner Gordon (RHP - COL), who is coming off a pair of strong starts in which he gave up just two runs over five innings against the Braves, striking out seven last Friday, and a turn on August 3, where he pitched six innings of one-hit ball against the red-hot Padres. Over his last 11 IP, Gordon has 11 Ks to just 1 BB, and his five-pitch mix gives opposing hitters a lot to chew on. In those last two starts, his ERA is 2.45, and his xERA is 2.63, which is even more impressive considering six of those innings were pitched at Coors Field.

Jordan Montgomery (LHP - STL) took the loss against the Phillies on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. In that start, Montgomery allowed at least one hit in innings 1-5. Those five singles and three doubles, combined with his three walks, made for another poor start. Montgomery sports an inflated ERA of 6.37, backed by an awful xERA of 5.42, and he’s been lucky with a low strand rate of 63%. He has 55 Ks with 32 BBs in 83.1 IP and cannot be spotted at an inflated price like this against another big-league lineup. Overlay.
