Cincinnati over Milwaukee
8:10 PM EST. Carson Spiers (RHP - CIN) took the loss last Sunday against the Giants, but it wasn’t a poor outing by any means. He pitched 5.2 innings while racking up 5 Ks, and all three of the runs he gave up were home runs. Spiers has held up well in his rookie season, posting a nice 1.16 WHIP with a solid 3.59 ERA that is backed up by a 3.55 xERA in 57.2 IP. Spiers has a nice pitch selection, and he’s at his best when he’s mixing his fastball, sinker, cutter, and change-up to get outs.
Aaron Civale (RHP - MIL) took another loss last Saturday vs. the Nationals to bring his record to 2-8. In that turn against Washington, Civale allowed five runs on seven hits in 4 IP while only generating five swinging strikes on 80 pitches. Perhaps most concerning was the fact that his velocity was down on all of his pitches in that start. Since being picked up by the Brewers (five starts, 25 IP), Civale has an inflated xERA of 5.70 while posting a 24/10 K/BB ratio. The last time Civale won a game was April 9, and he cannot be priced in this range tonight. Overlay.
