Oakland over L.A. Angels

4:07 PM EST. The A’s are playing some damn good ball right now, as they’ve won five of six and eight of their last ten, including the first three games of this series. Oakland will go with Osvaldo Bido (RHP - OAK), who is coming off five innings of one-run ball vs. the Astros last Tuesday, which, by the way, was only his second start of the season and first since May 8. Bido had been polishing his strikeout skills in AAA, where he has 55 Ks in 48 IP with just 16 BB, and for the most part, those K skills have translated to the bigs, where he has 22 Ks in 23.1 IP while also posting a 3.09 ERA, which is legit and backed up by a 2.91 xERA and a 1.16 WHIP.

It’s been a rough season for the Angels, but one bright spot has been José Soriano (RHP - LAA), who is coming off 7.2 IP of one-run ball last Tuesday, but we’ll note it did come versus the Mariners, who struggle greatly to score runs. On the surface, Soriano looks OK with a 3.51 ERA, but his xERA is 4.21. In his 95 IP, Soriano has 77 Ks to 37 BBs, and it remains to be seen how long he holds up this season, as he was primarily a reliever last season, where he pitched just 63.1 innings across both the majors and the minors. Soriano is already up to 95 IP this season, and even if he does pitch well today, he still has a weak Angels lineup hitting behind him, which makes the Halos a weak favorite that is spotting an inflated price.
