Kansas City over Arizona

8:10 PM EST. Forget Alec Marsh (RHP - KC), who has split time starting and coming out of the bullpen this season because this is a fade on the returning Jordan Montgomery (LHP - ARI), who cannot be a coin flip on the road in Kansas City in this spot.

Montgomery returns from the 15-day IL after suffering from a knee injury at the end of June. Montgomery was a late addition to the Diamondbacks rotation, as he was not signed by any club prior to opening day, and the results have been a mixed bag, as he is 6-5 but carries a bloated ERA of 6.44, which is backed by a 5.14 xERA and an average swing and miss rate of 11.1%. Perhaps the time off is what “Monty” needed to get right, but a road start against a Royals side that hits lefties well, ranking sixth in the bigs in average v LHP.

Win, lose, or draw, the value here is on the hometown Royals, who should be the chalk here. That they aren’t is a market inefficiency we are going to try and exploit. We could play K.C. straight up (-110), but with a total of 9½, we are going to go for the kill and take the Royals on the run line (-1½) at an inflated price.
