1:40 PM EST. Ben Lively (RHP - CLE) comes into this post All-Star start with a 3.55 surface ERA, but his xERA is nearly a run higher at 4.56 and he has just 78 Ks to 25 BBs in 88 IP. Furthermore, Lively is not missing bats at a high clip as his swing and miss rate is a puny 8.7%. Over his three starts in July Lively has a bloated ERA (5.94) and xERA (5.92) in 16.2 IP.

Meanwhile, Michael King King (RHP - SD) went into the break as a tough-luck loser after giving up one earned run to the Mariners over 6 IP where he struck out nine and walked one. King was great, generating 13 swinging strikes on 91 pitches and he’s given up just one earned run in each of his past three turns. Coming into today, King has a sporty 3.41 ERA that is supported by a 3.59 xERA while also moving down hitters at a high clip (10.46 K/9) with 129 Ks in 111 IP and a swing and miss rate of 11.3%. Over his last six road starts, King is 4-0 with a 1.77 ERA.
