The problems that Shota Imanaga (LHP - CHC) has been experiencing over his last five starts (6.86 ERA, 1.57 WHIP) have been a result of a combination of fewer strikeouts (20% K%, 11.0% SwK) and a lot of home runs give up (2.1 HR/9), and his 4.85 xERA says it hasn't all been bad luck. Today, he draws a potentially tough lineup in the Diamondbacks, who hit lefties well (.777 OPS, fourth-best in MLB) and is hitting very well in July (.281 BA, .837 OPS).

With Imanaga struggling lately, Brandon Pfaadt (RHP - ARI) might be a bit underrated here, especially since he put up two gems in his last three starts before the break. He also posted a 1.10 ERA, 25% K-BB%, and a 14.7% swing and miss rate in those three starts. In his last turn before the break, Pfaadt (4-6) picked up the win over Atlanta, allowing three hits over six shutout innings while striking out four. In that start, Pfaadt sat down the first nine batters he faced and didn’t allow a runner to reach second base. Heading into the break, Pfaadt posted four quality starts in six turns and he hasn’t walked a batter in his last two starts.
