Colorado -1½ over San Francisco
8:40 PM EST. This is strictly a play on Coors Field, in which the total is 10½, and we have two pitchers that are pretty comparable this season if their Wins Above Replacement (WAR) is to be considered. Kyle Harrison of the Giants (LHP - SF) is a pitcher who has had a rough start and does have some upside, but not as road chalk in a ballpark that takes no prisoners. Harrison posted a 4.95 xERA in the first half with a 1.36 WHIP, while his WAR was 0.7. That is barely above the replacement level line.
On the Colorado side, Cal Quantrill (RHP - COL) is nothing special, but his WAR coming out of the break is 0.8, nearly identical to Harrison, and he’s not being asked to spot an inflated price in Coors. Because there is little difference in these two pitchers, all things considered, rather than play the Rocks to win outright, we are going to play them on the reverse run-line (-1½) at an extremely inflated price because if Colorado wins this game, it’s likely to be by two runs or more.
