Tarik Skubal to Record the Win

The Tigers are 45-49, and yet they are -150 or thereabouts versus the mighty Dodgers, who are 55-39, which says a lot about just how much respect the oddsmakers have for Detroit ace, Tarik Skubal (DET - RHP). Skubal will make his first All-Star appearance next week, but he heads into this final turn before the break on a tear after he struck out 13 Reds in 7 IP last Sunday. Skubal is now 10-3 and he’s got a stellar WHIP (0.90), an eye-popping 132/20 K/BB ratio in 110 IP, and he’s nearly untouchable with a 99 MPH heater. Not only that, but Skubal brings a gorgeous sinker, a freakishly good changeup, and a 92 MPH slider on the backside if you need it. Oh, and don’t forget his knuckle curve which, while limited in its use, is very effective. Skubal has only failed to go five innings once this season, and that was a four-inning effort back on June 19. Dude is a workhorse, and if the Tigers are going to win this game, he is very likely going to be in line for the win, which presents us tremendous value on the home chalk. There is a damn good reason the Tigers are favored in the range they are today, and it's Skubal. When the oddsmakers make a statement like that, we don’t ignore it.
