6:50 PM EST. Nestor Cortes (LHP - NYY) carries a 5.63 road ERA (and 1.49 road WHIP) into today’s road start in Tampa Bay. Cortes was ineffective in a May 11 start at The Trop, and current Rays batters own an aggregate .912 OPS against him. Furthermore, lefties swing the Rays around to the better side of their platoon splits (.734 OPS vs. LHP; .661 OPS vs. RHP).

As for the Rays, they’ll go with Shane Baz (RHP - TAM) in what will be his second start after being recalled on July 5 from Triple-A Durham. Baz has taken the place of Aaron Civale, who was traded to the Brewers, and he went six innings versus Texas last Friday but was a tough-luck loser because the Rays could not muster a single run for him. In his 6 IP, Baz racked up 6 Ks to just 1 BB, picking up the quality start. Baz looks to be well on his way back from nearly two years away from the bigs with injury, and he is a tremendous value as a pooch here at home tonight.
