Washington over Tampa Bay

6:50 PM EST. Mitchell Parker (LHP - WAS) has had an impressive debut season thus far in D.C. He enters tonight’s game after an 8 K performance over 6 IP against the Rockies on Saturday, where he allowed just two walks. Those eight strikeouts match Parker’s season high, and he fanned six of the last 12 hitters he faced in that game. He’s gone at least six innings in three of his last four starts. On the season, Parker boasts a 3.30 ERA, a 3.55 xERA, and a solid 1.10 WHIP, with 58 strikeouts to 17 walks across 73.2 innings pitched.

As for the Rays, they’ll counter with Zach Eflin (RHP - TB), who took the loss in his last start against the Pirates on Saturday, giving up four runs on five hits over 7 innings. It has now been nearly two months since Eflin last recorded a quality start (May 7). In his six starts since then, he’s posted a bloated 4.86 ERA with just 24 strikeouts in 33.1 innings. At 40-41, the Rays do not win enough to justify their pricing in this range against a comparable team like the Nationals (38-42). This is a market inefficiency we hope to exploit. Overlay.
