Luis Medina (RHP - OAK) comes into this one after allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.2 innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Royals, where he came up just one out shy of a quality start. He also threw 54 of his 88 pitches for strikes. Across his 21 IP this season, Medina has an ERA of 4.71, but his xERA is 3.95.

Griffin Canning (RHP - LAA) might have some appeal, albeit not exactly on his own merits. Any game that starts with “home vs. OAK” is at least worth consideration, but there's not much in Canning's recent form to drive a recommendation. If you squint, his velocity and ground-ball rates have both ticked up in recent weeks, although the former is undermined by his swing-and-miss rate not coming along for the ride. With a paltry 15% K% and just a 2-8 W-L record, there's not enough upside in getting behind him. In fact, he’s worthy of a fade here as the chalk.
