Washington -1½ over Colorado

9:10 PM EST. Cal Quantrill (RHP - COL) took the loss against the Dodgers on Monday, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out three and issuing three free passes over 5 IP. Quantrill has had a few poor appearances this season, and although his ERA is a serviceable 3.43, his xERA is an inflated 4.55. Quantrill has just 59 Ks in 84 IPs, and he’s been hit hard with just a 14.2% soft hit rate, which means that 85.8% of the balls that are hit off him are either medium or hard-hit balls. That soft hit rate is Quantrill’s weakest mark in five years.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Parker (LHP - WAS) notched another win on Sunday versus the Marlins, allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out four over six innings and walking no one. Parker has been exceptional in his rookie season, and he posted his fourth quality start in six turns in that game vs. Miami. During that span, he’s got a gorgeous 25/8 K/BB ratio in 35.2 IP with a 1.04 WHIP, and he’s allowed three runs or fewer in each of his 12 starts this season.

Over their last 10 games, the Nationals are 7-3 with a 2.90 ERA, and they’ve outscored their opponents by a +11 differential. Meanwhile, the Rockies are 3-7 with a 7.99 ERA, and they’ve been outscored by 17 runs in that stretch. With a total of 10½, there are going to be runs scored tonight, and with the Rockies struggling at the dish more often than not, we’re siding with the Nationals to be the ones to rack those runs up and hang a crooked number.
