8:05 PM EST. Sean Manaea (LHP - NYM) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over 5 IP in a 2-1 win over the Padres, where he punched out seven. Manaea now brings a 4.11 ERA with an xERA of 3.78, and we’ll note he’s been a tad unlucky with a Batting Average of Balls in Play of .303.

Meanwhile, Andrew Heaney (LHP - TEX) is somewhat of a mess, and he’ll now face the hottest team in the majors. Earlier this season, we warned you of Heaney’s wide uncertainty bars, and while he has a quality start or two, most of his starts are bordering on disastrous. His swing-and-miss rate is starting to plummet, which has led to a corresponding dip in K%, all while posting the worst BB% of his career. He’s throwing 92 MPH these days, which is lower-tier velocity, and he’s not inducing grounders. Heaney comes in with a shaky 5.24 xERA in his last two starts and a 4.84 xERA over his last five starts.

In his last turn, Heaney allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings, and it's not certain how the Rangers will use him after tonight, as he may lose his place in the rotation with Max Scherzer coming back at the end of the month. As long as Heaney is starting, he’s worthy of fade consideration, so let’s go.
