8:05 PM EST. Texas led the division for more than 100 days this season but now finds itself fighting for a postseason berth. After looking almost unbeatable in a four-game sweep at Toronto last week, the Rangers have hit a wall again. First, they were swept by Cleveland and then lost the opener of this series last night. With each loss, winning the next game becomes even more difficult this time of year. The pressure is high and the Rangers have not responded. Tonight they’ll face Tanner Houck (RHP - BOS).

Houck has dealt with an unlucky 67% strand rate pushing his ERA a run higher than his xERA (4.94 vs 3.92). After several mechanical tweaks over the past several weeks, Houck has been given the green light to air it out. He’s looking much better these days and he’s available at a bargain price. Houck earned the win over the Yankees in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader last week. He allowed four hits and issued three walks while striking out seven batters over six scoreless innings.There's real upside here but he's also unheralded and very worthy here.

We wagered on Nathan Eovaldi (RHP - TOR) in Toronto last week and luckily cashed that ticket but man, did Eovaldi look shaky. Had he been facing a team that wasn’t so cold, he likely would’ve been whacked. Eovaldi did not factor into the decision that day, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks over 3.1 innings and every ball was hit hard. He’s laboring badly but it’s beneath the service, where his xERA over his last three starts is 7.71. Eovaldi’s first pitch strike rate over that same span is a weak 51% and his groundball rate has dropped significantly to just 32% over that same stretch. These are all signs of fatigue that should not be ignored. This is a sweet overlay and we’re on it.
