9:40 PM EST. The Royals have the worst road record in baseball, but they have to pick up wins somewhere, and a sad and empty Oakland Coliseum is as good a place as any to do just that. The Royals will go with Tucker Davidson (LHP - KC), who is not expected to go long in this game, as it will be a “bullpen” day for Kansas City. However, that serves us well here too, as there is a perception that the A’s have a pitching edge with Paul Blackburn (RHP - OAK) on the mound, which is pretty funny, all things considered.

Those things to consider include the fact that Blackburn picked up the rare win in the A’s 8-0 shutout over the Cardinals last Wednesday, where he allowed six hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings, striking out eight. One season does not make a start, and so we’ll point to Blackburn’s 1.48 WHIP, as well as the 22 strikeouts to 10 walks across 23 innings in his four starts prior. As a favorite, Blackburn would be a risky play against a AAA side. The Royals are better than that. Much better.
