Cleveland +123 over Minnesota

7:15 PM EST. Rookie left-hander Logan Allen (LHP - CLE) will get the start for the former baseball team today as the Guardians look to even up this series after losing the opener last night, 1-0. Allen is 2-2 on the season, and he appears to be hitting his stride as a pro after pitching seven scoreless innings against the Orioles on Monday. Allen sports a surface ERA of 2.72, which is backed up by his xERA of 2.93. Allen has been unlucky in a couple of underlying areas, including his inflated strand rate of 81.6% and a bloated Batting Average of Balls in Play of .330.

Sonny Gray (RHP - MIN) brings sparkling seasonal statistics into this game, but his day of reckoning is coming. A sub-2.00 ERA is not sustainable, as his xERA is almost a run and a half higher at 3.48. That's good, but we're not talking about a pitcher who is regarded as merely "good." Gray has begun to show cracks, and he's a player who is good for an IL trip or two every season. Additionally, Gray has seen a decline in his fastball velocity, swing and miss rate, and groundball rate. While nobody is pulling the fire alarm in those areas yet, it's worth keeping an eye on Gray as his potential decline will generate opportunities for us to take back inflated prices against him. We believe such an opportunity exists here, and we are not going to miss it.
