9:45 PM EST. The Pirates got whacked in the series opener, with the hometown Giants going off for 14 runs to the Bucs 4. Pittsburgh will try to rebound with Johan Oviedo (RHP - PIT), who is 3-4 with an ERA of 4.70. However, his xERA is almost a run lower at 3.88. Oviedo has made 10 starts this season and sports a very tidy groundball rate of 48.8%. Business has picked up for Oviedo of late, as he has been pitching well. Over his last three starts, Oviedo allowed just five runs on 12 hits over 16 2/3 innings.

Birthday boy John Brebbia (RHP - SF) is the opener for the Giants today, who will then go to the bullpen after an inning or two from their "starter." Brebbia has opened three games for the Giants, but those appearances have not been consistent, with his three starts coming on April 25, May 12, and May 22. Brebbia has made 23 appearances this season, pitching a total of 22 innings and posting an ERA of 3.68. In those 23 appearances, Brebbia has never gone more than two innings. With so much uncertainty after Brebbia, we cannot recommend spotting an inflated price like this with the Giants.
