Tampa -1½ +142 over N.Y. Mets

1:10 PM EST. New York will send Tylor Megill (RHP - NYM) to the mound today. Megill sports a 4-2 record and a 4.02 ERA; however, his xERA is even higher at 5.89. Across his 40.1 innings pitched in eight starts, Megill has 31 strikeouts to 22 walks, with a WHIP of 1.51.

The Rays will counter with Taj Bradley (RHP - TB), who was recalled from AAA-Durham for this start. Bradley has shown promise in his limited major league appearances this season, posting a 3-0 record with a 3.52 ERA in three starts. Some bad luck in the Batting Average of Balls in Play department (.313) has inflated that surface ERA, as Bradley's xERA is 2.27. In his 15.1 (all starts) innings this season, Bradley has 23 Ks to 2 BBs and a tidy WHIP of 0.91.

While we favor Bradley in this matchup, this is a situational play on the Mets after their thrilling walk-off win in the 10th inning last night, 8-7. When a team wins a game like that, it's not uncommon for a "let-down" to occur the next day, as it's nearly impossible to match the emotion and intensity of the last game, as well as the adrenaline dump that comes with it. Additionally, the quick turnaround from a night game to an afternoon affair adds another layer of fatigue, making it potentially an even more challenging afternoon for the hometown Mets. With a total of 9 runs posted in this one, the Rays on the run line is how we are going to play this one.
