Pinnacle has the best price here with the Angels +102

1:10 PM EST. Cal Quantrill (RHP - CLE) comes in with an ERA of 3.50 after 27 starts. His 12 wins against just five losses is one of the better won/loss records in the entire league but in no way is Quantrill even close to being one of the top starters. He might be the luckiest but not the best. At best, he’s a back-end starter on any pitching staff.

Quantrill’s surface stats are covering up a mediocre skill set. His ERA is more than a full run less than his xERA. More troubling are significant drops in K% which feeds into his poor BB/K% of 43/108 in 157 frames. His velocity is also down compared to his previous three seasons. Quantrill's skills do not support his surface stats, therefore he’ll continue to be overvalued.

Patrick Sandoval (LHP - LAA) posted elite stats in August (1.39 ERA, 0.96 WHIP in 32 IP). Overall, Sandoval has 131 K’s in 127 innings with an off-the-charts 17.4% swing and miss rate. He’s also done a great job of avoiding hard contact (85.0 mph EV). His exit velocity since the beginning of June has been the second lowest allowed by a starter since in June. You won't find a pitcher with a better combination of groundballs (52%), swings-and-misses, and strike rate (33% Ball%). He'll carry some full-season breakout intrigue in 2023 but today, he and the Halo are worth a bet. Incidentally, Cleveland ranks dead last in the AL and second last overall (behind Miami) in OPS vs lefties.
