San Francisco +167 over San Diego

9:40 PM EST. The Padres went all out at the trade deadline, picking up Juan Soto and Josh Bell to bolster their lineup, as well as Josh Hader to strengthen their bullpen. The Padres then went into Los Angeles and were swept by the Dodgers in a three-game series. Not quite the result San Diego GM A.J. Preller was hoping for when he pulled the trigger on those major deals. The Friars weren't just swept either, the Dodgers Molly whopped them, outscoring San Diego 20-4, including a 4-0 shutout yesterday afternoon. If one were to go back one game further, one could lump in a 7-3 loss to Colorado at home last Thursday, which would set the Padres' losing streak at four.

Blake Snell (LHP - SD) will try to stop the bleeding and get the Friars' hype train rolling again. Truth be told, Snell has looked pretty good as of late, but that does not mean that he and the Padres are not overpriced here.

Alex Wood (LHP - SF) sports an unlucky .336 Batting Average on Balls in Play that is backed up by a misleading ERA (4.42) that is higher than his xERA (3.41). To complete the unlucky trifecta, Wood also brings a strand rate of 67.7% to this start. What Wood brings that is not unlucky is his elite groundball rate (50.6%) and a decent 6.1% barrel rate, which measures solid contact by the hitters he faces. The Giants are priced like they are the Rockies on the road here, which suggests there is tremendous value on them in this spot after the Dodgers sent the Padres home with their tails between their legs.
