7:40 PM EST. The Twins have not yet named a starting pitcher for this one, but Chris Archer, whose turn would normally come up, has been pushed back to Tuesday. That means they plan to call up a pitcher from Class AAA St. Paul, and there are two candidates who are rested enough to get the call: lefty Devin Smeltzer, who has made 12 starts in the majors this season but owns an 8.76 ERA in three July starts, and veteran righthander Aaron Sanchez, an All-Star with Toronto in 2016 who has posted a 4.26 ERA in eight starts for the Saints. Regardless of who goes for the Twins, we’re playing Detroit with its best pitcher going. 

Tarik Skubal (LHP - DET) has a pair of starts against the Twins this season, however the results were vastly different with one disaster and one gem. Skubal has encountered some bumps in the road in the middle of the 2022 season. Still, his foundation of skills remains very good: 25% K%, 7% BB%, 18% K-BB%, 47% grounders and a rock-solid xERA of 3.44. Skubal's command sub-indicators give them even more upward potential (12.5% swing & miss rate, 65% first-pitch strikes and 33% Ball%). Dude has 113 K’s in 113 frames with just 30 walks issued.
