Oakland +230 over Houston

2:10 PM EST. There are a few different numbers posted for this game, but the best is Pinnacle with Oakland +252.

Does it really matter who is starting for the A’s? Insert any starter from their best to their worst and this would still be an auto-play. In case you’re interested, it’ll be Adam Oller (RHP - OAK). Again, we don’t care. With a lost season, the A’s are starting to shuffle the roster to test out younger players and trade away veteran assets. The 27-year-old rookie Oller, one of the pieces received in the offseason trade of Chris Bassitt, struggled across his 23 innings of work (nine games, four starts), recording an even 9.00 ERA while striking out just 12.8% of batters. He had shown promise with a 2.45 ERA at Triple-A for New York last year, but the A’s were unable to unlock that potential at the major league level. We understand he might get whacked but again, we don’t care because when one of the worst starters in all of MLB is priced like he’s Sandy Koufax, we must step in.

Jake Odorizzi (RHP - HOU) owns a 3.38 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 43 innings but his 16% K%, 9% BB%, 7% K-BB%, 36% grounders, and 5.76 xERA tells the real story of a starter on borrowed time. He's just another warm body with wobbly sub-indicators: 8.7% swing and miss rate, 56% first-pitch strike rate, 38% ball%. This stiff cannot be a 3-1 favorite even if the game were final.

Perhaps we’ll catch the Astronauts looking forward to a three-day break. Perhaps we’ll catch the Astronauts with their bags packed and one foot out the door, looking to refresh for the second half. Regardless, we’ll let the chips fall where they may and if Jake Odorizzi is a 3-1 favorite again, we’ll simply fade him again.
