Eat, sleep, fade Adam Wainwright (RHP - STL), repeat. We are not backing off the mantra. There are so many red flags in Wainwright’s profile that we could open an amusement park. Last Friday, Wainwright went nine innings against the Phillies, where he struck out just three. He took the loss. Wainwright’s serviceable 3.15 ERA is backed by an inflated xERA of 4.43. On the surface, Wainwright might look playable, but underneath he is not. Dude does not have a great strikeout rate and that is backed by just a 19.5% K% and a 13.3% K-BB%, both are not ideal numbers.

Do we really need to introduce the mighty Dodgers? Here are the Coles Notes. Los Angeles is 56-30, which is the best record in the National League. The Dodgers are loaded with superstars and their rotation is arguably the best in baseball.

Enter Tony Gonsolin (RHP - LAD), who is coming off of seven innings of two run ball where he did not issue a walk and gave up just four hits. Gonsolin is 11-0 this year and has been every bit as consistent as that record would indicate. Gonsolin is fooling hitters left and right with an elite 12.7% swing & miss rate, and although his xERA is higher than his surface number, it’s still a tidy 2.89. In truth, Gonsolin and the Dodgers have little to do with this wager, but it’s a bonus that we do get to back an elite team in this spot.
