Nick Nelson (RHP - PHI) has appeared in 22 games, none as a starter so it would be unreasonable to expect him to last more than an inning or two. It appears as though this is a bullpen game for the Phillies. Nelson appeared in 11 games with New York in 2020 and has mostly been a starter in his minor league career so starting is nothing new to him. Drafted in the fourth round in 2016, he offers a deep repertoire highlighted by velocity and a knockout slider. Athletic and strong, Nelson touches the high 90s with his fastball. The slider serves as his dependable secondary offering that registers a high number of swings-and-misses. He will also mix in a curveball and advanced change-up that could allow him to remain in the rotation, a role he prefers. We’ll live with whatever he and the rest of the Phillies' arms deliver today.

Andre Pallante (RHP - ST. L) took the loss during Tuesday's 7-1 loss to Atlanta, allowing seven runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts and zero walks in 3.2 innings. An elite groundball pitcher with subpar skills elsewhere, Pallante’s luck-driven ERA has inflated his value and is due for regression. We watched Pallante get absolutely torched last game out and he’ll return to the mound today shell-shocked because of it. More film is out on him so let’s see if the red-hot bats of the Phillies can get to him early and often the same way Atlanmta did last week.
