Colorado -1½ +285 over Minnesota

2:10 PM EST. Screw the money-line. With odds of 2-1 or better, we’re going to start playing the alternative run-line daily. One out of three winners (.333) shows a profit. Two out of three will crush. One out of four (.225) is a small loss). The math suggests this is a profitable approach so we’re going to put it to the test for an extended period of time and we’ll start with three today.

Joe Ryan (RHP - MIN) has made two starts since coming off the DL. He pitched in Seattle and then pitched at home against the Guardians. In a combined 11 innings, Ryan was tagged for 12 hits and seven earned runs. Ryan is a pitcher that throws strikes and doesn’t give up many free passes. However, with a 32%/54% groundball/fly-ball split, he’s always had issues with the long ball. Prior to his injury, his HR’s were down to just 0.6 per nine with just a 5% HR/f rate. In his two starts since returning, he’s given up three jacks in 11 innings. Ryan has a 4.36 xERA overall but in his two starts since coming off the DL, his xERA is 4.84.

Meanwhile, Ryan Feltner (RHP - COL) is the owner of a nice skill set which is flying under the radar (3.41 xERA, 49% grounders, 10 K’s/9 and outstanding command (77 BB in 30 innings). Two of his last four starts have been beauty’s and he’s held right-handed batters to a poor .525 OPS. There’s a great chance that Feltner will see five or six right-handed bats in Minnesota’s lineup. Minnesota is an absurd -225 today and it’s not warranted.
