Chicago +145 over Houston

8:10 PM EST. Framber Valdez (LHP - HOU) has been a model of consistency of late with nine straight quality starts. Valdez has thrown 61 innings over that stretch with 49 strikeouts, a 2.21 ERA, and 3.26 xERA. Still, Valdez takes on a White Sox team hitting .319 over the past month versus LHP. The South Side is an offensive juggernaut that crushes LHP.

As drunk as Tony LaRussa is, we must play the White Sox with Luis Giolito (RHP - CHW) starting when prices like this are being offered. Giolito is one of those arms that shows some reverse lefty/righty splits. He has really struggled against same-sided hitters (5.14 ERA, 1.61 WHIP in 28 IP vR), against whom his command has been marginal (15% K-BB%) and his skills have been subpar. He has been electric against lefty bats (31% K-BB%, 2.11 xERA). Given his historically strong skills against righties, there's more upside here than just about any pitcher in the game. Giolito has 70 K’s in 53 frames and he’s priced today like he’s Paolo Espino on the Nationals. It’s absurd. Oh, and in case you need it, the South Side is heating up big time, led by forgotten man Jose Abreu. He’s hit .292/.407/.513 over his last 30 games, and .328/.443/.552 over his last 15 contests.
