Seattle +105 over L.A. Angels

10:10 PM EST. Few young baseball pitchers are better at throwing strikes than Seattle’s George Kirby (RHP - SEA). Dude can pound the strike zone with big-time velocity and some quality secondary pitches. Since getting the call-up, Kirby has started seven games that have spanned 37 innings pitched. In that limited time, Kirby has shown flashes of his first-round pedigree by pitching a couple of gems, while not looking out of place most other nights. Last time out, Kirby faced the scorching hot Red Sox and gave up three earned runs while striking out four in five innings. He sports nearly a K per inning strikeout rate of 8.51 K/9 and he’s beginning to fool major league hitters with his 10.3% swing and miss rate. The sky's the limit for Kirby.

The Angels have been a mess for weeks with their most recent run of failure currently at three straight losses. In addition, the Angels have lost eight of their last 10 and if you want to go back further than that, the Halos dropped 14 straight before getting off the schneid against the Red Sox on June 9. In fact, the Angels haven’t been playing good ball for a month. It cost former manager Joe Maddon his job and a bad haircut, as he planned to sport a mohawk to turn things around. He was gassed before he could make it to the clubhouse.

Baseball is a team game and it’s also one of streaks. The Halos have won just one of Shohei Ohtani’s (RHP - LAA) last five turns. That victory came last time out, but prior to that, Ohtani was lit up by the Yankees and Blue Jays. Hard-hitting teams, no doubt, but Seattle doesn’t rank as far behind those clubs in the hitting department as you might think.

With or without Ohtani on the mound, the Angels are having nothing but trouble winning games. We'll now get behind an underpriced starter on the Mariners mainly because the Angels are a horrible favorite right now.
