Colorado +155 over Atlanta

9:10 PM EST. Spencer Strider (RHP - ATL) will make his second start of the season after taking his first turn in the rotation against the Diamondbacks on Monday. Strider, who had been pitching well in relief may have found that there is a big difference in those roles after giving up five earned runs on four hits over 4.1 innings while taking the loss. Strider was a fourth round pick of the Braves back in 2020. Prior to this season, Strider was pegged for a relief role, but the Braves appear to be keen on stretching him out. While the sample size is just 28.2 innings, Strider has thrown up some red flags. His groundball rate is a weak 33.3%, which does not figure to serve him well in Denver tonight. Neither does his weak 14% soft hit ball rate. Coors Field takes no prisoners and it’s a tough park for one to make their second MLB start.

Kyle Freeland (LHP - COL) does not get the love that many former top-10 picks do, but that likely has much more to do with where he plays and not how he plays. Being a pitcher in Denver is no easy task, however, Freeland has found his footing in the Rockies. There might not be an unluckier pitcher on the board today, as Freeland sports a .341 mark on Batting Average on Balls in Play (BABIP). It’s not like those balls are sailing into that thin, skunky, mountain air either, as Freeland is giving up less than one long ball per nine innings (0.85 HR/9). An xERA of 4.82 is lower than his surface number and when you consider dude has to pitch at Coors, that number isn’t shameful. No team in the majors strikes out more than the Braves. Nobody. Atlanta is also hitting just .224 against lefties. The stars are aligned for some tremendous value with Freeland on the bump and we’re not going to pass it up.
