3:07 PM EST. Alek Manoah (RHP - TOR) is a really good real-life pitcher with excellent power prevention. He has posted 27 K’s against just two walks over his last five starts covering 30 innings. The White Sox are having trouble finding ways to score and/or win games. Remove walks and jacks from their equation and it means the South Side is going to have to string together some hits to score runs. They’re not trustworthy to do that.  The Jays, by contrast, are very trustworthy.

Johnny Cueto (RHP - CHW) has started just three games this year and comes into this one with a nifty 2-0 record to go along with his 2.41 ERA. Throw in seven walks and 14 K’s in 19 frames and it looks very, very serviceable on paper. We’re not buying however. You see, Cueto has not been the same since his 2017 arm woes segued into 2018 Tommy John surgery. He held his own early last year until his barking elbow injury-listed him twice for almost 7 weeks in Aug/Sept. His BB% looked vintage, but his K% and trend vR are stagnant, as are his dominant start/disaster start splits. Cueto still has his bag of tricks and perhaps the extra rest before getting it going will help but injuries, age, 8.7% swing and miss rate and xERA of 4.88 suggest otherwise. He’ll now face an awakened-from-their-slumber Blue Jay club. Toronto is 7-0, averaging 6.8 RPG on the strength of a .911 OPS in its last seven games.
