Minnesota -1½ +105 over Kansas City

2:10 PM EST. Sonny Gray (RHP - MIN) has his mojo back. Gray was activated off the 10-day injured list on Saturday, May 7 after recovering from a strained right hamstring. He lasted just four innings that day but they were pretty darn good innings. He didn't allow a run, he gave up just two hits, he struck out seven and walked just two. He’s made three starts since then and it’s evident that he’s getting stronger. He went seven full last game. He has a BB/K split of 10/35 over 28 frames. He struck out 10 last game and his xERA is an elite 3.29. His groundball rate is also elite at 53%.

We like that K.C. won yesterday because it’s rare for Kansas City to put together back-to-back road wins. We also like that Zack Greinke (RHP - KC) has batting practice stuff. Zack Greinke’s 1.9% walk rate is second in MLB (min. 30 innings), behind only Kevin Gausman. A batting practice machine also throws strikes. The better news for us is that his 8.9% strikeout rate is dead last in the league and an even more pressing issue is an average exit velocity of 88.6 mph, also the worst of his long career. Greinke took the loss against Arizona on Monday, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing seven runs on five hits and four walks. Zack Greinke has 23 K’s in 48 innings. His xERA is near 6. There are two possible outcomes for Greinke here and it’s not a good outing or bad outing. His two possibilities are a disaster outing or an extremely lucky outing.
