Colorado +115 over Pittsburgh

12:35 PM EST. Getaway day in Pittsburgh will see Zach Thompson (RHP - PIT) and his 4.88 ERA take the mound for his eighth start of the year. In 31 innings, Thompson has a weak BB/split of 14/24. He has better command than that but so what, as his swing and miss rate is lowering with each passing start (10%, 8% over his last two starts). Thompson brings a 5.05 xERA into this start and while he’s probably worth a look when taking back a price, he’s almost an instant fade when spotting one. You see, Pittsburgh has two victories in Thompson’s seven starts.

Ryan Feltner (RHP - COL) makes just his second start of the year and fourth in his career after starting two games for the Rockies last year. So far it has been ugly with an 11.27 ERA last year and a 7.20 ERA after a single game five-inning performance this year.

Feltner parlayed a dominant turn in the Cape Cod League into a fourth-round selection by the Rockies in 2018. 6'4" and 190 pounds, he has a great frame in which Colorado was betting could eat innings in a rotation, and he has rewarded them with solid development and results. Feltner's four-seam fastball found a few more ticks last season and now is consistently an above-average pitch that increasingly flashes plus. He backs that up with an average slider and change-up, with a fringe-average curve that the Rockies have been pushing so that he can more effectively work north-south with his four-seamer at the top of the zone. In his first start this year at Philadelphia, he struck out 7 Phillies in five innings with an xERA of 3.83.
