7:00 PM EST. Heading into a month-long break, the Connecticut Sun should be very proud of where they stand just over halfway through the season. At 18-5, they've maintained one of the best records and they've exhibited one of the most consistent and well balanced programs in the association. Their defense remains a top unit, second only to the Minnesota Lynx, and an underrated offense that functions with high chemistry is ranked in the top-3. Later in the Fall, come playoff time, the Sun may be at a disadvantage in elimination games because they don't have that true #1 superstar player on their roster. DeWanna Bonner is their highest scorer (17 ppg), but all 5 of their starters average double-digit points on a nightly basis. That's not a "bad thing" per se, but teams like the Liberty and Aces have bonafide star power that their supporting cast members can turn to, while Connecticut often struggles to find their go-to-gal in clutch scenarios. Still, when the Sun are particularly motivated, their exceptional team chemistry and first class defense can run over their opponents with ease. This is how they've acculumated a 18-5 record, after all.

We think that's the mode we'll see from the Sun on Tuesday night. Connecticut has accomplished much through 22 games, but they have yet to defeat the class of their conference: the New York Liberty. The Liberty started off a little shaky in May, but over the last month-plus they've been white hot, accruing a 15-2 record since the start of June. There's not a lot of negative we can say about New York - their offense is the best in the league, their defense is a top-4 unit, and no team is rated higher overall. They've also defeated the Sun twice already this season. This is all about the spot, and a market that may be missing a key intangible for tonight's showdown. Firstly, Breanna Stewart, arguably the Liberty's best player, may rest tonight. It's also unlikely that the home team cares as much about this third battle as their opponent does, simply because the Liberty don't have as much to prove at this point. If the Sun win, who cares? New York would still be the #1 team in the East with a one-game lead on their rival, and they would still own the best record in the W. This is Connecticut's game to lose, and this time we like the ball to bounce their way before the long layoff.
