Columbia to Lift the Trophy (Win Copa America 2024)

8:00 PM EST. Forget the fairy tales for Argentina, who might be on the brink of an incredible run that would include a second Copa America title sandwiched around a World Cup victory. Oh, the Argentinians also feature the best player in the world, Lionel Messi, who is supported by a cast of talent that runs deep. However, this is a tournament final in which Messi and company got a breezy path, playing Ecuador (in a game they did not look good in) in the quarterfinals and then pulling surprise Canada in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Colombia was in a brawl with Uruguay, in which they finished with a 1-0 win despite going down to 10 men in the first half.

While Argentina is on a great run, the Colombians have won 27 games in a row, and in case you haven't seen the highlights, they came here to fight for every inch, tooth and nail. Colombia will be undermanned again here, as they are down Daniel Muñoz, who was sent off in the 45th minute in the semis, which earned him a ban for this final. However, that is not privileged information, and it’s been factored into the odds here. There has been an overreaction to Colombia being down a key man on their back line, but that only increases their value in a game they are going to have a shot to win. It might be hard to see anyone but Messi raising the Copa America trophy tonight, and perhaps he will, but at the inflated price the Colombians are being offered, we’re stepping in with a wager.
